Are all the teachers verified?

Musicverse verifies all of its teachers. Teachers have to submit either scanned copies of academic certifications, lists of performance experiences, or videos of themselves playing the instruments at the highest level they are capable of playing or teaching at. This is because we believe that many of the best musicians gain their experience from performing, particularly with pop music, thus we hope that certifications will not be a setback for them to share their skills.

We will also regularly collect feedback from students to ensure that our teachers provide quality service for our students and parents. We hope that through this effort, we are able to help our teachers grow and improve, and at the same time be able to better recommend teachers to future students.

Are there any fees or charges?

This service is absolutely free for students and parents.

For teachers, we charge a 50% commission fee for the first months’ lessons for each successful match. Should the student decide not to continue the lessons within the first month, we will charge a 30% commission fee.

Are lessons conducted at the students’ homes or at the teachers’ homes?

This is up to the students and teachers’ preferences – you may request for a teacher to go to your home, or request to go to the teachers’ studio for lessons.

How much do you charge for a beginner home piano lesson?

Lesson fees are set by teachers. As a general rule, more experienced teachers charge a higher rate, and fees are also usually higher if lessons are conducted at the students’ homes.

How do I pay the fees?

Lesson fees are to be paid to the teachers at the end of the first lesson.

Is there a minimum commitment period?

While we do not have a minimum commitment period, we encourage students to take at least 4 lessons. This is because it usually takes awhile for the students and the teacher to understand each other’s teaching and learning styles. However, if you find that the teacher is not suitable, feel free to contact us, and we will find you a new teacher at no additional charge.

Once I make the request for a teacher, when can I expect a response?

We will try our best to contact you within 24 hours, but do allow up to 48 hours in case of high volume of applications.

How does the matching process work?

When we finalise a request from a student, we will contact all tutors teaching the instrument, and shortlist all applicants. We will then submit the profiles of all shortlisted applicants for the student to look through and select a suitable teacher. The selected teacher will then be informed, and may contact the student. All other applicants will also be informed that the assignment is closed.
